Let's get one thing straight; we, here at GarageSaleShow.com, absolutely hate to pay a penny more than we have to for anything, period! We have had mixed emotions about buying our pet medications from somewhere other than our local, Denver Area Vet. It's always bothered us that we were paying more money our pet's prescriptions, but we love our Vet. We understand that she has to make a living too, so we've continued to buy our pet Meds from her...until now. Over the weekend we discovered something that has changed our direction on the Pet Medication issue.
We've been seeing the advertisements saying "Save Up To 50% On All Your Pet Care Needs With PetCareRx."
We finally decided we would check out the big savings claims. Frankly, we were a bit skeptical that we would save much. The ads say "up to 50%," so we figured that our actual savings could be far less. Then we considered that there would be some shipping cost involved. We were very pleasantly surprised to find that we were wrong.
When we shopped our pet prescriptions online, we found that the claims made by PetCareRx were right on the money. While they claimed that we could save "up to 50%," our savings turned out to be about 41%. The eye drops we've been paying $35 for at the Vet's office were only $20 and change. And we're talking about the same name brand, the same strength and the same size bottle. Had we stopped with just the eye drops, we would have had to pay some shipping cost, but the PetCareRx website advised us that we would get FREE shipping and a FREE $5 Gift Card if we spent $25 on the order.
10% Off Entire Order at PetCareRx

By the time we were done, we'd purchased the eye drops and 2 packages of dog treats for $26. We received FREE shipping and a FREE $5 Gift Card. That amounts to a real saving of $9 over the cost of the drops alone at the Vet's office! The order was shipped to our P.O. Box via USPS Priority mail. We also could have chosen free shipping to our home or office via UPS.
In the end, we did have to provide our Vet's name and phone number, so that PetCareRx could verify the prescription. While we still feel a little bad for taking the business away from our Vet, here's the real issue, as we see it. We don't mind paying a bit more if we receive good customer service; however, in this case, we found that our Vet had been marking this prescription up by close to 100% over her cost. In our estimation, that's just not reasonable.
Savings will, no doubt, vary from drug to drug. Some drugs may even be more expensive to order this way. Other drugs may require blood testing and monitoring by the Vet, so they may be best purchased locally. But there's a good chance that you could save big bucks by purchasing at least some of your pet medications online. |
